OOTD: VFESTIVAL FEVER

image

Festival shopping is a certain kind of shopping. You buy and wear stuff that under normal circumstances you wouldn’t usually wear.

For example;

GIMME ALL THE FRINGING, ALL THE SEQUINS, ALL THE COWBOY BOOTS, AND LETS SHOW ALL THE FLESH.

Like seriously, when would this ever be okay unless you’re running wild round a festival site?

Festival clothes serve several purposes:

  • Be cool. Make a freakin’ statement. Like I said above, festivals are the time to dress like a magical fashion fairy because HECK people don’t judge at festivals. Well, not as much anyways…
  • Be comfortable. If you’re looking to catch all the best acts then dig out your most comfortable footwear. Boots/converse/vans. Something that will get you across all those fields 10 times over and then back to the campsite.
  • Be dance friendly. Your clothes have got to enable you to chuck yourself around in a crowd, partying like a rockstar. So don’t wear clothes that can’t withstand a dance off.
  • Be ‘okay’ with dirt. If you’re worried about your suede jacket getting ruined, then don’t wear it. The chances are, you’re gonna be covered in mud, sweat and other substances that I’d rather not speak of. Ew. So wear stuff that you don’t mind if you never see again.

Anyways,  I love festival season. Fullstop.

So onto the reason for this very post. It may not be Bestival or Glastonbury or Cochella, but I am heading to VFestival this weekend. And not in the normal capacity either. Unfortunately I won’t be doing as much skipping around, drinking beer and crowd-surfing as I would like.

I’m running a Silent Disco at VFest (Hylands Park, Chelmsford) this weekend for work purposes and yes, that still requires a snazzy outfit to some degree. Besides, I clock off at 8pm so role on all the best acts of the evening.

So I did a bit of shopping, and an equal bit of hunting around in my wardrobe, cause y’know proper skint and all that. (House stuff is really taking it’s toll on my monthly shopping budget.)

For work purposes, I am permitted to wear a promo top BUT I have been given full  permission to customise as I wish. So yeah, I had myself a little arts & crafts session and hacked my t shirt to bits to give myself a little vest top. Simples.

I just need some UV paint on my face and a bucket load of glitter chucked over my head and yeah, I’m ready to enjoy my festival weekend.

OOTD – DAY 1

It’s meant to be a glorious day full of sunshine tomorrow with bags of tanning potential.  Cue my legs OUT to get my tan ON.

I picked up these Levi black/silver shorts from some thrifty shop near work for a cheeky £15. They might be more ‘Leviii’ than ‘Levi’, if you catch my drift, but they give me that festival sparkle that I was looking for.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a festival if I didnt wear flowers in my hair of some sort. So why not wear the whole flipping garden on my head? I picked up this beaut flower garland from H&M to add a little omph to my Saturday outfit and that ‘pop of colour’ that I’m always waffling on about. Waffle waffle waffle.

My denim jacket is an old Topshop fave. My vans are centuries old, hole in the toe and everything.

So there you have it. I’m ready to coax festival goers into our Silent Disco. Lets go.

OOTD – DAY 2

The day two outfit is made for major comfort. I’ll be dragging myself back on the work minibus at a very unsociable time of 9am, tinged with a hangover I’m sure.

These are my favourite Hayden Jeans from Topshop that I bought last summer. I’ve worn them to death and they have served me very faithfully over the past year. They have just the right amount of slouch to them, the type of slouch that’s hard to find. Y’know what I mean right? Every gal should own a pair, I swear.

I’m gonna be chucking on my trusty  H&M pork pie hat for two reasons; to cover up that bad hair day I’ll be having and to divert attention away from the ghastly bags under my eyes; tell tale signs that I have not had enough sleep in the last week.

I picked up this cute aztec look bag from the New Look sale today. Add my pom pom bag charm and I’m super happy with this investment.

If you’re heading to VFestival in Hylands Park this weekend, then drop by and visit our Silent Disco tent by the MTV stage. You can’t miss us. We’re the tent with the red carpet outside. Keeping it classy.
