#3 HAPPY SHOES + HAPPY THINGS

It’s Easter Weekend and there’s lots to be happy about.

So I asked my Mother which shoes she deemed her ‘happiest’ pair, and these are the ones we chose. I mean they have freakin’ mermaids and unicorns on the soles for goodness sake. It doesn’t get much jollier than that, surely?

These babies are from Irregular Choice, an alternative shoe designers who opened their first flagship store in Covent Garden in 1999. In fact, these are seriously tame in comparison to some of their other designs, which include dinosaur incrusted heels (‘Roarsome’ – £189) and cat and fox print boots (‘Foxy’ – £99)

These shoes scream HAPPINESS.

They’re all pretty and frilly and cute. And they made me want to put on this equally pretty/frilly/cute midi skirt.

They’re slightly more ‘out there’ than shoes I would normally wear, but I kinda see these being perfect for a wedding. You know, happy shoes for happy occasions. And besides, there’s something fun about these shoes. They don’t take life too seriously and FYI neither should you.

Any shoe that has pictures of cherries and pineapples on them can only be doing something seriously right.

And yeah, a unicorn and mermaid on each sole – pretty darn cool if you ask me. It’s all in the detail with these shoes. They give off that vintage vibe which is all the rage at the moment. For vintage goodies of the greatest quality, check out Bobby’s Girl Vintage here, a local vintage shop with some seriously cool stuff.

So to wrap up Easter Weekend, here’s some things that have put a great big grin on my face over the past few days:

HAPPY THINGS FOR THIS WEEKEND

1. Denim A-Line Skirt

So I’ve been looking for one of these over the past few weeks and on a random shopping trip to Shorditch on Saturday I came across this denim wonder. Even looking at it now makes me smile.

I have to be a bit careful when sitting down in it though. If I don’t press my legs together the bottom buttons ping open like I’m in some kind of ‘Carry On’ film or something. But whatevs, I don’t need to be comfortable when I’m wearing this beauty.

I’m finding it mighty difficult to take photos of myself so it’s bit difficult to see the whole thing SOZ. Must invest in a tripod. But yeah the links below so you can click through and have a butchers there if you must.

2. MAC Lipstick

So to date I’ve only ever owned a whole stock of cheapo Topshop lipstick. Don’t get me wrong, they have served me well over the years. They’re brilliant value for money and great for when you want to try new colours/shades. But on Saturday I felt it was time to invest in my very own MAC lippy – a grown up lipstick. I mean I am 23 now, I deffo qualify as a grown up.

I fell instantly in love with it. It lasts for HOURS and doesn’t make my lips go all dry ew

3. New Stationary

New stationary is in my Top 10 of most satisfactory things (alongside making very long To-Do Lists at work and throwing a good outfit together in ten minutes flat)

This cute notepad was a recent buy from Natural Edge during a trip to Leigh on Thursday. I’m gonna use it to write down all my blog post ideas. So it will most probably stay empty. Ha.

4. Bridesmaid Invitation

As I write this I am grinning from ear to ear and feel like I have sunshine radiating from me. Today I received this lovely invitation in the post from my brothers beautiful fiancé. I cant wait to be a part of their special day next year, and I’m so bloody honoured to be asked.

I know it’s going to be the most awesome wedding for the most perfect couple

Bridesmaid duties, come at me – I’m ready for you!
