MOTHERS DAY SPECIAL – 10 REASONS WHY MUMS ARE FABULOUS

Mum & Me
Trip to London

I’m drinking homemade green smoothie, I’ve clensed my face and I’ve even had time to do the weekly shop. And most importantly, I’m supposed to be writing my ‘WEEKLY FAVES ROUNDUP’ post.

But hold the phone.

It’s Mothers Day tomorrow and surely this calls for some kinda special post to say TA very much to all Mothers around the world.

You can say it in flowers and cake and chocolates. But heck, why not say it in a blog post.

I tried to write something first off that refered to all Mums, but it was impossible without referencing my Mumma directly.

So here’s 10 reasons why I’m in awe of my own Mother. Hands up if you can relate ladies & gents:

1. She’s fabulous AF. A trench coat, aviation shades and Kurt Geiger heels. Yes, she knows how to work it.

2. She loves me unconditionally. Like I can leave an unspeakable amount of clothes on the floor and litter crumbs across the kitchen surfaces like an oversized mouse. And yet she STILL loves me.

3. She has superpowers. ‘You did the washing, walked two dogs, planned a charity ball, did a 2 mile run and a food shop all before 3pm?’ I need to get my life together. Obvs.

4. She has a better eye for fashion than me. She’ll throw in comments like ‘socks and heels are gonna be all the rage this year.’ I laugh like a heyena and then BAM two months later Grazia is telling me I need to go buy socks and heels because it’s what all the cool kids are wearing. How the flip did she know?

5. She throws wilder parties than me. And no, that’s not a reflection of my soiree throwing skills either. She just has this knack of effortlessly putting on memorable shindigs where everyone has a kick-ass time.

6. She’s the ultimate female role model. She’s worked incredibly hard to get to where she is and she’s achieved so flippin’ much. She’s like Beyonce, but less curvacious and a lil shorter. But yeah, she’s an empowered woman to say the least. And that’s something to look up to.

7. She’s my best gal pal. Endless phone calls, a daily stream of whatsapp messages and always happy to listen to me moan about stuff. And she always agrees. I don’t like you? Yeah, my mumma don’t like you now either.

8. She seems to know the answer to everythingLike how to get stains out of white tops and how to make the best flippin’ mojito known to man (it’s all about the brown sugar, don’t you know).

9. She’s my biggest fan. Mums have this way of showing an unreal amount of support. And when I feel like the whole world is working against me, she’s there in the corner waving a tiny Jade sized flag, screaming ‘YOU CAN DO IT’.

10. She’s done an ace job. I’ve heard on the grapevine that being a parent is hard work. And despite all the chicken nuggets she fed me as a child, I think I turned out just fine.

If you’re reading this, nodding along, and thinking ‘yeah, I turned out just fine too’ then go and buy your Mum a big slab of cake and say ‘well done you.’

(Not forgetting Papa Bear, but your day is yet to come)

By the time you read this, we’ll probably be having breakfast along the seafront, eating macarons and looking forward to our work out with our personal trainer.

Perfecto.
