5 BAD HABITS WE SHOULD ALL KICK TODAY

IMG_0954

I’m having  a reflective moment. I’m almost 100% sure I’m not the only one that identifies with these bad habits. Gimme a shout if you feel me.

Let’s kick ’em together

1.PRISE THAT PHONE FROM YOUR HAND, YOU CRAZY LOON.  Let’s detach ourselves from our smart phones/tablets/laptops. YES, they improve our lives greatly by allowing us to speak to anyone at the touch of a button and answer any question our heart desires:

(Me: Where can I find the nearest Topshop? Siri: The nearest locations is…)

But WHOA hold on a moment, technology can also be the most life draining thing in the world. Think of all the hours you spend on your gadgets, rather than engaging in actual conversation with another human being face-to-face.

I get serious withdrawal if I run out of data and god forbid if my iphone dies – I’m literally the worst offender for this bad habit. I sometimes find myself checking Instagram/Facebook/Wordpress in a continual loop before I suddenly stop and think – MY GOD nothing has changed in the last 10 mins so put your bloody phone down woman and go and do something semi-productive (read/cook/run free through the fields naked).

So I propose a ‘Technolody Detox’. Who’s with me?

2. DON’T SPEAK TO PEOPLE THAT ADD NO VALUE TO YOUR LIFE. Cut out the bad peopleYou know the ones I mean right? The ones that make you miserable, the ones that don’t make you a very nice person. Those people that are hellbent on causing chaos in your life.

Just chuck ’em.

In particular, avoid liars, dirty deceivers, pretenders, drama makers and backstabbers. Sounds obvious, but it’s so easy to get involved with these silly so and so’s.

Just remember, you don’t need that kinda negativity and bad vibes around you, stealing all your sunshine and sparkle and rainbows and glitter. Be the person you wanna be and surround yourself with people that bring out the very best in you.

3. THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE. I must admit, I can be pretty materialistic at times. Bad trait I know, but hey, I love my stuff.

But fo’ real, there’s more to life than ASOS packages and MAC lipsticks. HECK I only have to look at the news and see that actually, I have everything I need right here. The air I breath, the food on my plate and the roof over my head. Everything else is just a super duper bonus that we should never take for granted.

What I’m trying to say is: Lets appreciate the simple things in life. Lets make a huge effort to stop moaning about things we don’t have, and start looking at all the wonderful things we do have.

4. YOU ARE NOT THE TASMANIAN DEVIL. I seem to spend my life running around at 100mph, juggling 101 commitments and then wondering why the hell I feel so burnt out. It’s important to take a second to slow down and check in with yourself every once in a while. I was having a conversation on FB this week about ‘To-Do-Lists’ being never ending and like GAAAD isn’t there more to life than just getting stuff done?

And the answer to that is – Yes. ‘Hell to the yes’, in fact.

Life is not just one big ‘To-Do-List’. And if it is, you need some reassessment.

So lets stop beating ourselves up about the things that don’t get done. There are, after all, only so many hours in the day. Obvs, if you’re as a laid back as a llama this doesn’t apply to you, but if you can recognise the Tasmanian devil in yourself, like me, then maybe it’s time to cut back that monster ‘To-Do-List’ and breath.

5. STOP WISHING YOUR LIFE AWAY. So one of my main ladies gave me this point and I was like HELL YEAH I am so darn guilty of this one.

You know when it’s a Monday and you wish so bad it was a Friday?

Or you wish pay day would come a hell of a lot quicker so you can go out and buy all the Topshop boots and fedora hats you’ve spied online?

Or when it’s 4 weeks until Christmas and you wish so bad it would just come right away so you can eat the whole freakin’ turkey in one sitting?

Folks, lets start living in the present, the here and now. I wanna make the most of every second of every day. Stop living for the weekends and start living for now, now now.

AND BREATH. That’s my reflective, feel good post over. Jeez, that was long. I’m feeling frazzled but refreshed and ready to kick life’s butt. Who’s with me?

P.S. Soz about scuzzy nails below. Gosh I’m such a scummer at times.
