5 THINGS I’M LOVING RIGHT NOW

img_3582
It’s Sunday & I’ve spent the last 3 hours in the hot tub with my Mum talking all things wedding. Feeling pretty giddy right now, not gonna lie.

And who knew the skin could get so wrinkly? I’m basically a shar-pei after all that hot-tubbing.

So this was supposed to be one of those ‘oh hey look what I got for Christmas‘ posts but y’know, late to the party as per.

So I’ve re-titled this one to ‘5 things I’m loving right now‘ and coincidentally they were all Christmas presents from various family & friends who know me so flippin’ well. Top marks, people.

Here are the 5 things that are making my January less blah and more waaheeeey.

THE VINYL RECORD PLAYER

Vinyl is making a huge, magnificent come-back and I’m jumping head first onto the band wagon.

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the beauty of our new member of the family – Ronnie the Record Player.

This bloomin’ amazeballs gift was given to us by Max’s parents and we are so in love with it. In fact, I think it might have aged us 30 years because we now have this habit of putting on a bit of crackly Elvis on a Saturday morning and dancing around the kitchen like an old, wrinkly couple.

Swear down though, the music sounds so much better on this. And omg all the fun looking for new records. It’s like I’m 12 years old again searching through Golden Discs for CDs. Best. Thing. Ever.

So far Max & I have hoarded ourselves the original Grease album, some Bob Marley, The XX, Chuck Berry & the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. We have eclectic taste.

You can get yourselves a bit of record player action from Urban Outfitters here.

THE BOBBLE HAT

Been wanting one of these cuties for a while and low and behold, one turned up in my Christmas stocking from Santa. The big man knows me well.

I’m gonna be wearing this with long winter duster coats, Chelsea boots & mitts. Because you do know it’s supposed to snow on Friday right? Yup, get your sledge out.

So is your hat complete this year without a bobble? Probably not.

This cuties from Next here and it also comes in black too.

THE CATH KIDSTON ROBOT TOTE BAG

It’s not the Cath Kidston x Disney collab, but it is a freakin’ robot design. And that’s pretty ace by my standards.

I’ve been using this for work because a tote bag seems the most inoffensive thing for a commuter to carry – it reduces the possibility of knocking into other commuters by a considerable amount, and it creates less hoo-har on super busy trains.

I’ve also been hoping that the cheery robot design might make other squashed commuters smile; no signs of this yet but you never know.

‘THE LITTLE BOOK OF HYGEE’ BY MEIK WIKING

Yup, I know I’m late to this party too. I know other bloggers have ranted and raved about it and lit a hundred candles around the subject too.

But I was curious what all the la-de-dah was about so I asked for it for Christmas. I’m now halfway through and contemplating a move to Denmark just to revel in more ‘Hygee-fun’.

Hygee – pronounced ‘hue-gah’ is the way the Danish describe anything cosy, warm and homely. It’s candles and knitwear and pals drinking mulled wine and coffee. It’s home cooked food and cushions. It’s embracing calmness and reading books and browsing old photo albums. It’s a feeling.  It’s everything that a Friday night should be about.

So it’s safe to say I’m enjoying the book, which is written by the CEO of the Happiness Institute in Copenhagen – um, how the flip do you go about getting a job like that? I bet their office is MARVY.

If you fancy getting a bit more hygge in your life, you can get the book here.

THE SWEATY BETTY YOGA TEE

Because I ate 5 tins of Quality Streets and I feel like a beached whale right now. Basically, I need more active wear in my life.

This little hun is from Sweaty Betty; super soft and super comfortable. It’s certainly making that step back into the gym far less daunting.

Oh and I’m hopefully organising a cat yoga programme this year so y’know, great fit for that (and if you’re wondering, it is what it says on the tin – yoga, with cats)

It’s got a super cute little open back too. In the photo I kinda look like I’m in some sort of hooker pose – didn’t mean to be, but I was just really keen to show you the back.

This isn’t online now, but New Look have got this really cool new range of active wear – like this vest, these ‘don’t quit’ leggings.

You’re welcome. Happy gymming.

Nothing better than a stroll around the record shops in BATTLESBRidge followed by a SUNDAy roast at the barge x
