HOME PURCHASES THAT MAKE ME SWOON

11

I’ve been nesting.

Did you read about my leap into adulthood here last month?

So we’re well on our way to picking up the keys for our new pad, so obvs I need to start accumulating ‘stuff’. My father keeps telling me that I need to be thinking about practical stuff like doors and windows and floors and walls. But I just want to think about cushions and sofas and bedding and kitchen wear. Basically, all the fun stuff.

Max and I went for a browse on Sunday and I managed to pick up a few bits for our new place. To say I’m buzzing is an understatement. I so want our home to be instagram/pinterest worthy, with pastel colours and bold prints and quotes plastered all over the walls, flowers everywhere.

So here are my first home purchases. Exciting much? Squeal.

White & Copper lamp from Homesense – £25.00

I’m determined to have my very own slice of blogger heaven in the spare room, with a cute desk set up where I can sit and type away happily ’till my hearts content. I mean, currently I have no laptop or desktop computer, so I will sit at this desk and SHOCK HORROR use pen and paper, but I’m hoping to acquire some kinda Mac if I’m a REALLY GOOD GIRL.

So yeah, the lamp for my wonderful desk. It reminds me of Pixar which can only be a good thing. This whole copper trend is really ‘in’ right now, and I thought with the white it was neutral enough to invest in so early on. I mean what desk is complete without its very own desk lamp?

Kilner Glass Wear – 4 for £10.00

Because drinking out of plain  glasses is just dull. I can imagine I’ll be sipping cocktails from these in the summer and mulled wine in the winter. Gal knows how to live right?

Next ‘HAPPY’ Felt Cushion – £12.00

We’re going for a grey/navy/yellow colour scheme for our lounge (it might sound pukey but it WORKS – trust me, pinterest it). So I thought I would secure this colour scheme by buying this cushion. I’m a huge fan of Next Home, and my number one TOP TIP of the day would be –

If you like Next home wear, then shop in Choice.

It’s like ALL THE NICENESS of Next at half the price. It’s all the stuff that’s been returned or a teeny tiny bit damaged. I can live with a chip out of a chair leg if it’s half the price.

HELLO BARGAINS.

You have to stalk the place though. Like all the time. I get paranoid that i’m missing out on all the good stuff. I’ll be taking regular trips down there over the next couple of months. Watch this space.

George (for Asda) Patterned Bowls – 4 for £6

I was ecstatic when I learned that Asda had its very own home  section. I knew George (for Asda) sold clothes, but it also has a whole range of home goodies. Their kitchen section was particularly good, and I picked up these cute little patterned bowls for £6.

Homesense Multicolour Coat/Key hooks

These cute coat/key hooks are gonna look freaking adorable in our hallway, I’m sure. And it’s totally practical too. We’re a bit tight for space in our new place so this will be ideal to hang coats up. I picked these up from Homesense, which is my new fave shop for home accessories.

It’s a bit like TK Maxx but purely for home wear. There’s loads of random stuff for your home – it’s good for key peiece or some standout finishing touches. It’s a bit hit and miss (like Choice) – you just have to keep visiting as they have new stuff in all the time.

I saw an ornate Arabian themed chair that I so wanted. It was pretty wild. Max said no. Appaz our bungalow doesn’t suit ‘Arabian’ themed furniture. Boo.

Buying stuff for the home is just so satisfying. In a different way to clothes buying too. I might even like it more than buying clothes. Who’d have known, eh?
