WEEKLY FAVOURITES ROUNDUP | 19 June 2016

It’s got me.

The week started off fine. By Thursday my tonsils had started swelling. By Friday I was struggling with life and by Saturday I was stuck in bed with man flu.

Boo to the hoo.

I never get ill. I’m not that type of person. I eat too many super foods for my body to even entertain the idea. Lols.

So this post comes to you over a thousand sneezes and a shit load of coughs. Don’t get too close to the screen, you might catch something.

I know you’re probably all out eating steak with your daddy’s, but here’s the things this week that made me smile. And no, chicken soup doesn’t feature:

HAPPY FATHERS DAY – CLINK (LEIGH-ON-SEA)

So y’know, first off I have to start this point with: my dads a flippin’ hero. He’s better than yours. Bias maybe, but true.

Special fathers get special presents. Forget novelty ties and moustache mugs, I’m talking vodka.

I took a trip to Clink in Leigh-on-Sea to pick my Dad up summin special. It’s not the first time I’ve tried their stock but it is the first time I visited their shop to buy something.

I’m giving it a mention because I think they’ve got it spot on for gift purchasing.

You pick a bottle and pick a tipple and then they seal it up and wrap it all in pretty tissue.

I went for raspberry vodka and toffee vodka.

The staff were fantastically attentive and helpful. They even asked if I wanted to try a few, which I declined as it had only just passed 12pm and I’m not a hooligan. But it’s great that the offer was there.

If you’re local to my area and looking for something unique with a handcrafted look, this is a great place to try.

Check out their website here.

CACTUS PRINT JOGGERS

Don’t you just love it when you pass the sale rail and there’s just something so perfectly perched on the end waiting for you?

These cuties flirted at me. I flirted back when I realised they were only a fiver.

Cactus print. Love love love.

They’ve been there for me in my man flu time of need. I feel just that bit less of a slob in them with my runny nose.

H&M purchase. I’m afraid they aren’t online because of the sale nature in which I found them. However, if your cactus crazy how about this cute duvet set from Urban Outfitters? <3

VEGAN DREAM RECIPE

So I’ve been toying with the idea of trying veganism for a week and writing a review/recipe piece about it. Thoughts?

I thought I’d dip my toe in the water on Monday and try something a bit vegan.

This, my friends, is a mango & sesame quinoa salad from Deliciously Ella.

And guess what? I kinda liked it.

Quinoa (pronounced keen-wah people) is high in protein, so I could get on board with that. And the mango and pomegranate were all sweet against the nuttiness of the sesame and tamari.

You can try the recipe for yourself here.

And WHEN I find a good week to do it, I’m gonna try veganism.

ASCOT DRESS UP

I wish I was writing just ‘Ascot’ above but I had a pretty awful day at the races, to be frank. I’ll be writing a post on that next week, so be sure to check it out.

However, dressing up for Ascot was the most fun. Despite purchasing 5 dresses before I found the right one (bit stressful), I felt like Kate Middleton herself as I strolled into the races. Just with more prosecco in my system and less grace in ma huge high heels.

The dress was a surprise purchase from Quiz. I know, not my usual haunt. But TBH it was the only place I found that actually had a whole selection of the right formal dresses that weren’t gonna break the bank.

This Bardot dipped hem number was a steal at £29.99 and was better than any of the other dresses I tried that were double the price.

The heels were borrowed from Mothers collection, of course. Ted baker, and a killer to walk in by the end of the day.

But my favourite piece of the outfit was hands down the vintage fascinator which I borrowed from a friend. Old school glamour right there.

TOPSHOP GIFTS

My mum brightens up my day just by dropping me a text, but she fills my world with rainbow rays when she has presents for me.

Two little pieces she handed to me today. And I photographed them then and there in the garden.

1.Cute AF ‘petit chien’ tee that’s gonna have to be my substitute for a real pooch right now. I saw this ages ago and thought ‘huh that’s pretty‘. My mumma knows me so well.

2.And this gorgeous black midi dress. It’s gonna look stunning with some killer heels. It’s also got this laaaavly strappy back.

Both from Topshop. Can’t link through cause I’m on my phone writing this and gahhhh trying to eat BBQ food and not look unsociable.

Now if you don’t mind, I’m gonna get back to enjoying a Father’s Day BBQ. Gimme all the garlic prawns and salmon skewers please.
