WEEKLY FAVOURITES ROUNDUP | 17 April 2016

The sun is shining and I’m eating myself into a Sunday macaron coma.

I’ve been dog walking with the mutts and even swigged an Old Mout cider in the sunshine.

What more could a gal ask for on a Spring Sunday afternoon?

This is the first weekend in I-don’t- know-when where I’ve actually had zilch planned. Nothing on. 48 hours to do whatever I please with.

It’s been bliss.

And it’s made my WEEKLY FAVOURITES post less of a ‘crap, better make some time to put that together’ and more of a ‘lets kick back and write this gem of a post’.

Here’s all the things making me smile this week

MAKE UP FROM REBECCA RYTHER

On Thursday evening I went to a pals Indian Charity night where I could eat as much miscellaneous Indian food whilst raising money for a good cause. Score.

There was also the good ol’ traditional raffle and guess who won one of the top prizes?

Uh huh. Me.

I had my lucky pants on.

A Rebecca Ryther £20 make up voucher to spend however I wanted. Such good timing too ’cause I’m so skint at the moment it hurts and I could do with a wee treat.

So without any hesitation I took myself down to Leigh-on-sea on Saturday morning and proudly presented my voucher. The lovely staff member in there gave me a full tour of their stock and I began the ‘umming’ & ‘arrring’ session.

I was instantly taken by the Delilah Colour Intense lipstick collection purely because Holly Willoughby wears it and she’s an absolute babe. They had a vintage red which gave me all the wants. I was sold.

Despite spending the full value of the voucher on lipstick, I was also pretty transfixed on a whole counter dedicated to glitter.Glitter in every shade and sparkling so very bright. So in true Jade fashion (fuck it, who cares) I picked myself up a Glitter Eyes set.

I’ve got an awards evening on Friday. I’m literally gonna douse myself in this stuff. Gal gotta dazzle at an awards evening, right?

MEXICAN NIGHT

A Friday night Mexican feast. Need I say more?

There are 3 reasons why this put a big fat smile on my face.

1. We were gonna have a really bland boring dinner and then somehow we managed to turn it all around and AREEEEBA we had Mexican food instead.

2. I still managed to keep to my healthy eating plan AND avoid bland food AND keep the boyf happy (he could have wraps, whilst I loaded my plate with salad).

3. It was all home made. People that buy packets of Mexican seasoning make my heart sad. Put down that pre-mixed stuff and save yourself some pennies. Here’s making Mexican on store cupboard essentials:

MEXICAN FAJITA SEASONING

Chilli powder

Cumin

Paprika

Garlic powder

Cayenne Pepper

Salt & Pepper

GUACAMOLE

Smashed avocado

Lime juice

Crushed chilli

HERE’S HOW TO HOP ON THE GOOD FOOT AND DO THE BAD THING (MEXICAN STYLE)

Chop up your raw chicken & veg (peppers, mushrooms, onion) into bite size chunks. Cover with seasoning and throw it into a hot pan with a splash of oil.

Serve with tons of green leafy salad and chopped up tomatoes. Add a dollop of guacamole and crack open a beer.

And for your hungry other halves (who don’t like clean eating on a Friday, duh), heat up some wraps to go with their chicken mix.

BLATELLA FILMS & THE TRAILER FOR ‘THE WEDDING OF THE YEAR’

It’s a whole week since ‘The Wedding of the Year’ and I’m having serious wedding withdrawal symptoms. I’m dying to throw some confetti, drink too much prosecco and dish out some bridesmaid banter.

Wah.

But there was a ‘lil pick me up this week ’cause the first ‘trailer’ version of the wedding video became available and OH EM GEE you need to check this out.

The videographers who put this together are the bomb.

I recommended Blatella Films to my brother as I’ve worked with them before and I’m so blinkin’ pleased that they’ve put together such a babin’ video for us to remember such a special day.

I give Blatella Films a huge recommendation, thumbs up and 10 gold stars. If you’re looking for videographers in the South East with a reasonable price tag and serious attention to detail, these are your guys.

Check the film out. Adorable. Who can spot @Georgethewhippet?

BANANA & PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE

I know I’ve had a good week when there’s time to make smoothie. Max actually requested this one and I very quickly whipped it up in no time at all. Yes, I know, I make such great GF material.

INGREDIENTS

2-3 bananas

Peanut butter (something natural, like Whole Earth)

Unsweetened almond milk

Flax seed mix

Squeeze of honey

Ice

Whizz it up in a blender and cue ‘my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.’

Happy straws, happy tummys and happy smiles all round.

PINEAPPLE FRUIT PLATTER

On our wanderings into Leigh yesterday we found ourselves in Natural Edge, a shop that you can’t walk out of without buying an abundance of mega cute stuff you don’t need.

As I mentioned before, my bank balance is as sad as a llama that hasn’t been fed for a week.

But when you come across a cute little garden accessory like this, WHO THE HECK CARES. Let’s just go buy everything because we only live once and I love pineapples.

Can we take two seconds to appreciate the adorable style of this practical summer accessory?

Max is in the middle of doing the garden up proper style so we can have all the BBQs and all the summer shindigs. And this, my friends, is how I’m gonna serve my fruit.

Skewered on a pineapple. Maybe with a side of melted white chocolate, just for the fun of it.

Enjoy admiring it’s loveliness.
